I recently bought a book of sewing patterns, 'Sew Many Dresses, So Little Time' and it is unique in that you yourself combine the various elements which make up a dress, to make you own dress. The author states that there are 219 possible variant. It is like being able to design a dress yourself, without being a trained tailor.

(English version further down).
Mønster: Bogen Sew Many Dresses So Little Time (på engelsk).
- Bærestykke: Basic
- Udskæring: Scoop.
- Ærmer: Cap sleeve
- Nederdel: 3/4 cirkel
Stof:
100% bomuld fra Stof og Stil (2016)
Størrelse: Overdel str. 5. Nederdel str.
Modifikationer:
- Tilpasning til stor overvidde på bærestykke.
- Tilpasning for svajryggethed
- Tilpasning for høj, rund ryg.

Pattern: The book Sew Many Dresses, So Little Time.
- Bodice: Basic.
- Neckline: Scoop.
- Sleeves: Cap sleeve.
- Skirt: 3/4 circle.
Fabric: 100% cotton from Stoff & Stil (2016)
Size: Bodice and sleeves size 5, skirt size 6 (the sizes are specific for the book and do not refer to a clothing size system of any country. These sizes roughly correcponds to size M and L.
Modifications:
- FBA.
- Swayback adjustment.
- High round back adjustment.
- Adjustment for short shoulder to waist length.
Would I do anything different, if I used the pattern again?
The waist felt slightly too high up. I plan to lower it by 1½-2 cm on the next dress. Also I put the zipper in too high up. There nedd to be a few cm of side seam above the zipper, so the pull isn't annoying against my armpit.
Would you recommend this pattern to others?
I really like that the book has so many variants og bodices, sleeves, necklines and skirts, as well as suggestions for even more  variants you can make yourself.
I think the book is best for at least an advanced beginner. Even though the instructions and guidelines are very good, there still is an expectation that you know the basics of sewing.
Also it can be a bit bothersome to scroll back and forth many times for the instructions for the different parts of the dresses as well as the general guidelines on how to e.g. grade a seam.
But being able to "build" your own unique dress is completely worth it.

Building a dress (Yes I always work on my floor mats).

First time I tried this method of making a pattern for at skirt.

Undervejs og laver tilpasninger.
Underway with adjustments.

Stoffet er hvide æbler på grøn baggrund.
The fabric is white apples on a green background.

I am very proud of the back of the dress. I made swayback adjustment and high round back adjustment and the dress fits really well in the back (in the photo I twist my body slightly).

Reverse Mimimalist Packing Party - In English

[Minimalist packing party]: To pack all your things away, and then only unpack what you need when you need it. After a set period of time, you give away everything, you didn't unpack.
I thought the idea was great, but impractical in my everyday life, where time and energy is limited, as well as space to pack away everything to. And as a mother I wouldn't put my son through this rather extreme exercise.

So I invented the
Reverse Minimalist Packing Party

Concept
The idea is as simple as the original packing party: You pack away the thing you HAVE used. What is left you become forced to look at with new eyes.
You can do one category (clothes, kitchen utensils, garden equipment) at a time, or your whole dwelling. I chose one category because it was easier to overview, and to fit into my everyday life.

Would I rather go without, than use this annoying food container with the ill-fitting lid? Would I not be caught dead in what is left in the closet, and would rather buy something new? If that is the only board game left, would I rather go sort my sock drawer instead of playing it? Is this sports equipment useless for my needs, and the only reason I still own it, is that I practically forgot, I had it.

And allow yourself to part with the things you don't like, don't care about, which are broken, ill-fitting, or just don't work for you. Or if you discover that you have way to many duplicates of this item.

Experience
I tested the concept on my wardrobe. You can see the posts here Reverse Packing Party.
I packed away the clothes after they had been worn and washed.

In the course of the RPP I decluttered 100 pieces of clothing!  (No, I don't have 33 or 56 items of clothing now. I blog about refashion, clothing is my hobby). Now I only have clothes I like to wear.
When I open my closet I sometimes catch myself thinking, that I have to spend mental energy thinking of, what I don't want to wear. And then I discover that I don't have to: I like all the clothes in the closet. YAY.

The RPP took me three months. Not as fast as a packing party, but easier to fit into my everyday life. And at a pace where I had time to think about what I really wanted to do with my wardrobe.
It did help me to get rid of what I didn't like, what didn't fit or was the wrong size.
But the biggest difference to a regular declutter was, that I looked with new eyes on the nice, good, wellfitting clothes that just always got bypassed because I liked the rest better.

Discoveries
- I have a my "uniform": Tight fitting long sleeve T-shirts, A-line skirts and tights. Which is fine. But now I am more aware of choosing the rest of the clothes, which I like too.

- I will NOT run out of clothes. Several times I surprisingly thought that I might have nothing to wear, if I get rid of this garment. Honestly, that will not happen. And if I do, the thrift shops have plenty of cheap clothes, and I am not too poor to buy it.
It feels a bit like subconsciously being afraid to starve, and therefore buying the bulk goods.
But honestly, I live in a rich country, with good social security, friends and family, and shops that are open until late at night every day. I might not be rich, but I don't ever have to starve.
And I will never have nothing to wear.

- I really like 3/4 sleeves. But they don't like me. I always end up with freezing underarms. I love them, but I never wear them. I got rid of every single item of clothing with 3/4 sleeves.

- I don't care about fashion. Well I do, but not fast fashion. More the long lasting trends. Even if I have this season's fashion in my closet, I don't use them. So no need to acquire them.

- I need dresses. What I nice surprise. I love wearing dresses, and I thought I had many dresses. I do, but most of them are very light and flowy summer dresses. Not the kind you can transition with a sweater and thick tights. And summer is short here.
I need dresses! I have already begun to sew myself new dresses.

- I hate trousers and jeans. The don't ever fit me (I am S/M in my waist and L/XL in hips). I might be able to find ones if I look far enough, but I just don't care.

- If something isn't used, because it is not quite right, but with small changes could be, I should put them in my refashion cabinet right away. Or they will hang unused forever in my closet.

Someone somewhere have probably made up the term Reverse Packing Party before me. Everything has already been invented. But I haven't been able to find any reference to the concept online.

I have always preferred to declutter a little at a time, rather than a huge purge of a whole category or room at a time. Ever since I started on my minimalist journey 8 years ago.

My favourite way to do it, is to take one tiny spot, one box, one shelf and declutter for 15 minutes (and then stop).
I can always do that, find the time and energy for it, no matter what, because it is only 15 minutes. !5 minutes is always possible.
The first year of minimalism, when I found it hard to overview anything, the teeny tiny bits of 15 minutes at a time - every day for a whole year - made a huge difference in how my home felt to be in, and at the same time I decluttered my soul as well.
My box og belt stuffet with belts. I don't use belts that often, it was way too many.

Jeg sorterede ret nemt 17 fra.
I easily decluttered 17 belts.

There are still a lot, and I have decided to keep an eye on, which ones I don't use, in order to declutter the collection further, when I know which ones I like best and use the most.

Oh, and there was also this little box with wide belts. The yellow one, and the simple black one (next to the blue one) got to stay.

Udrydning: Kasse med lim m.m. / Declutter: Box of glue ect.

I have started to (once again) declutter min sizable craft corner (I think it breeds on its own).

This box was meant for clue and other adhesives (velcro).
But leather tools and other items without a space had found their way into the box as well. Impossible to get to anything.

Leather tools removed, found homes for homeless things . And a tall box for all the little tubes of glues.

I found this chambray shirt on sale in a charity shop. Mine!
But the sleeves were much too wide and - as always - too long for me.

Der manglede også en knap nederst.
And it was missing a button.

I narrowed the sleeves, and shortened them.
And I took the button from the washing instructions, and sewed it on where a button was missing.
And that was it, ready for use.
And yes, it is wrinkly. I did on purpose not iron it, as I like a casual boho look of non-ironed chambray.

Minimalism and organising is not the same. You can't organise yourself out of having too much stuff. But when you only have left what you like and use, organising brings peace of mind, and makes it easy to find what you need, and to put it back again.

My other bathroom cabinet.
Largest problem was makeup. I have only first started to wear makeup more regularly in the last few years, and I didn't have proper storage for it.
On the top shelf was bandaids in a box at the back. Silly to have them there, since they are used relatively often, and it is difficult to get to them without everything else falling out.

I found a couple of small round containers that I put inside the big one. One container for each type of makeup.
In the middle foot stuff has its own container as well.

And at the top banaids is in one of the striped cardboard boxes, and assorted things in the other one.

Hvorfor havde jeg en hel håndfuld engangsskrabere? Jeg bruger aldrig engangsskrabere.
Why did I have a handfull of disposable razors? I never use disposable razors.

What was decluttered: The box on the floor has trash, and the plastic bag tings for donating.
